Two Salt Lake men have been charged in the aggravated robbery and burglary of a Salt Lake home last week.

Jonathon Victor Lovato, 20, and Julian Don Stevens III, 18, face first-degree felony charges in the Nov. 12 robbery and burglary of a residence in the 2600 South block of Forest Dale Circle (1060 East), according to documents filed Tuesday in 3rd District Court. In an unrelated case, Stevens also faces third-degree felony charges in the Friday drive-by shooting of a Salt Lake house, according to 3rd District Court charges also filed Tuesday.

On Nov. 12, three men entered the house on Forest Dale Circle about 7:30 a.m. through the window of a child's bedroom, court documents say. The suspects said they were police officers and held the occupants at gunpoint while rummaging through drawers, cupboards and closets.

One of the suspects kept asking, "Where's the drugs? Where's the money," the documents say. The suspects left with two coats, a leather belt and a telephone.

Lovato later admitted that he was one of the three men who entered the house, the documents say.

Lovato, Stevens and Johnny Michael Chavez, 18, were arrested Friday after a noontime drive-by shooting at 580 E. 3665 South.

A woman and her husband were eating when they heard loud bangs coming from their back yard, according to court documents. A bullet nearly struck the woman as she walked down a hall.

A witness saw a man driving a blue compact car fire about five rounds into the air, the documents say. Other witnesses described the vehicle and the license plate number to police officers.

Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies spotted a car matching the description near 4000 South and 300 East. They arrested a man returning to the car.

A search of the vehicle turned up bullet casings, a .38-caliber handgun and a stolen 9mm hand-gun.

Stevens has been charged with discharging a firearm from a vehicle, a third-degree felony. Both Stevens and Lovato are being held in Salt Lake County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
