Jack Emil Nelson, age 77, of Salt Lake City, died November 16, 1996.
He was born February 16, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph Victor and Della Vilate (Stevenson) Nelson. He married Rachel Hazen Reid April 22, 1939 in Kaysville, Utah. Member of the LDS Church.Jack served in World War II as a machinist and worked as a heavy duty mechanic after the war until his retirement. He liked to develop and create new tools for himself and his co-workers. Jack loved the out-of-doors and especially the wildlife. He was also interested in raising tropical fish. Jack and Rachel loved ballroom and round dancing and enjoyed associating with many wonderful friends in their dance clubs.
Survived by his wife, Rachel; daughters, Marge (John) Hadley of Centerville; Mary Ann (Fred) Burton of Alpine; Keri (Bob) Dean of West Chester, Ohio; son, J. Lee (Sue) Nelson of Salt Lake City; also 17 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Joy (Jack) Barnett, and Billie Keyes of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Keyes of Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 22, 1996, at 2 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Thursday evening at the mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m. or one hour prior to the services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Cemetery in Salt Lake City.
