Investigators check out the scene of a crash in South Jordan where a 30-year-old man was killed when his car collided with a freight train Monday morning. The man, whose name has not been released because police were still trying to locate his family, was driving west on 11100 South when his car crashed into the southbound train about 450 West, according to a South Jordan police report. The impact spun the car around and off the east side of the tracks. The driver was the only one in the car. He was flown to LDS Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The timing of the crash, about 7:30 a.m., caused traffic headaches for commuters as the train blocked traffic on 10600 South for more than an hour while the crash was investigated.
