Striking truck drivers put up new roadblocks Tuesday and some regions began rationing gasoline as a fifth round of marathon talks failed to end the week-old protest.

Truckers blocked Normandy Bridge and several other key points Tuesday, adding to more than 160 highway barricades, state radio France Info reported. They continued to block the English Channel ferry terminal at Calais.In southeast France, the highway between Lyon and Grenoble was blocked, leading to a 7-mile-long traffic jam. In central France, the town of Clermont-Ferrand was isolated by barricades.
