SHARE SANDY MAN IS CHARGED WITH POSSESSING STOLEN CAR

A Sandy man currently on probation has been charged with possessing a stolen car and a dangerous weapon - both second-degree felonies - and third-degree felony possession of a controlled substance, court documents say.

The man, 20, is being held in the Salt Lake County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, according to charges filed Monday in 3rd District Court.Sandy police on Wednesday stopped a gold 1996 Toyota Corolla, which had been reported stolen, near 1116 E. Webster, court documents say. When the driver was removed from the vehicle, a gun fell from his waistband. The driver also was carrying methamphetamine and marijuana.

The charged man is on probation after pleading guilty to a drug possession charge last spring, court records show.
