Sparky the cat lost a few of his nine lives getting back to his owners after a tornado pummeled their home several months ago.

The 4-year-old tiger cat stumbled into a restaurant parking lot in Lomira in southern Wisconsin, about 10 miles away from his home, with a muskrat trap around its front paw. A customer picked him up and turned him over to an animal clinic. The cat had lost four pounds during his 110-day odyssey, but not his worn red collar and identification tag. He was reunited with Mary Ellen McNaughton and Mark Gresbach earlier this month.

"I knew he was still out there. I just didn't know where he was," said McNaughton, who had placed a lost cat ad, scoured lost-and-founds in newspapers and called the Humane Society every week.

Gresbach didn't have her confidence. "I'd come to the conclusion that it died. With him being declawed, I didn't think there was much chance for survival," he said.
