Four Utah County residents have filed notice they would like to serve as the next Utah County clerk/auditor.

Current Clerk/Auditor Bruce Peacock is resigning Dec. 15 from the post he has held for nine years.The Utah County Commission must appoint Peacock's successor from a list of three names provided by the Utah County Republican Party. Peacock, a Republican, was re-elected in 1994 and has two years remaining in his term.

Geneel Scott, Arlin Kuhni, Keith Haines and Tim Sherman all submitted their own names to Utah County Republican Party Chairman Steve White as possible candidates for the job. The deadline to file for the position was Friday at 5 p.m.

The clerk/auditor is responsible for overseeing county elections and financial operations. The full-time position will pay $56,524 in 1997.

The Republican Central Committee will meet Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. in Provo to pare the list of names down to three, which will then be submitted to the county commission.
