Michael Jackson's nurse has conceived a baby boy by the rock star through artificial insemination, and the birth is due in February, according to a London tabloid report.

The paper, News of the World, on Sunday quoted Debbie Rowe, who it said has known Jackson for 15 years, as saying he is paying her $528,000 to have the baby. The infant, shown on a scan to be a boy, will be named Michael Jackson Jr., the paper reported. It said the baby was conceived by artificial insemination at the Los Angeles Fertility Institute.

It said Rowe revealed details of her pregnancy in taped conversations with friends which the paper acquired. It did not say who gave it the tapes or whether it paid for them.

The newspaper said Jackson, 38, and the 37-year-old nurse have no plans to marry. It said Rowe has told the friends that Jackson will raise the child himself, probably at his French chateau, and that she will have visiting rights.

The paper quoted her as saying on the tape: "He'll be raising the child. He plans to hire nannies to help him."

It quoted Rowe, who it said helped treat Jackson for vitiligo, the ailment that has lightened his skin, as saying: "Michael is so excited. He keeps saying how he can't wait and how nine months is too long."

The paper said Rowe and Jackson tried to conceive naturally but failed, so they chose artificial insemination, which, after one miscarriage, worked.

Jackson, who is divorced from Lisa Marie Presley, is on a world tour. But he "will be in Los Angeles for the birth and for six weeks after the birth," the paper quoted Rowe as saying.

It said she added: "He wants the baby to be christened by the pope."
