The dress went for $820, and the buyer is convinced it's a steal.

Free-lance photographer Paul Welford paid the sum Tuesday for the wedding dress that actress Britt Ekland wore when she married Peter Sellers after a 15-day romance in 1964."What a bargain, I was prepared to go much higher. It will make a great prop in the studio," Welford said after the auction at Christie's in London.

Ekland, who was not at the sale, sold mementos of her relationships with Sellers and Rod Stewart because she is moving from her London home to Los Angeles to be close to her children.

Christie's said the collection sold for $140,000.
