The Southern Utah University women's gymnastics team lost a meet Monday but gained its highest NCAA ranking ever, 13th, on the latest poll from the national coaches' association, out Wednesday.

Southern Utah - coming on the heels of its record-setting meet, when it scored 192.775 to tie the school record in the Centrum Monday falling to rival Utah State (193.275) - breaks into the national Top 20 for the first time this season, vaulting from 27th. The poll is still determined by high score but will change to Regional Qualifying Scores in the next few weeks when teams have enough meets to do so.Utah State dropped two spots to 11th, while Georgia held on to the top spot. Utah is ranked third and Brigham Young is ninth.

The highest Southern Utah had been ranked in the past was 15th (last season).

SUU's Dawn Kisselring is the state's highest-rated vaulter in a tie for 17th with a best of 9.9. Ute Sandy Woolsey is tied for fourth on bars (9.95). Ute Traci Sommer is tied for fifth on beam (9.9) and eighth all-around (39.30), and Ute Megan Caudle is the state's highest-ranked floor exerciser in a tie for 14th (9.875).
