Having just completed 12 years in business, Goodson Signs, 527 N. Market St., will have an open house at 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and a ribbon cutting at noon Tuesday, Feb. 13, to note the company's 2,000 square-foot expansion.

Mark Goodson, company president, said the company had 1,500 square feet. The addition provides easy access frontage, convenient parking, a large customer area and showroom, two design stations and expanded production space. He said the new showroom is pleasant with fun sign displays.

Goodson started his company in January 1984 after sub-renting 600 square feet from Parnell Green of Top Trucking in a cinder block building behind what was then Bob's Oil Exchange. By going door-to-door and contacting businesses, his gross sales totaled $8,000 the first year.

His sales doubled each year for four years and in that time he moved three times and finally settled in his current location.

Goodson is a member of the board and chairman of the Programs Committee of the Northern Wasatch Home Builders Association, is a member of the Layton Area Chamber of Commerce, the Salt Lake Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Kaysville Chamber of Commerce where he was a board member in 1995.
