SHARE MOUNT NEBO ROUTES OPEN TO WINTER RECREATIONISTS

All designated routes in the Mount Nebo area are being groomed weekly or biweekly, starting immediately, according to Uinta National Forest officials.

Winter recreationists are invited to experience the mountain on snowmobiles or cross-country skis.Access is open either through Payson or Nephi. Parking areas have been cleared and are available at both access points. Access may also be gained through Santaquin Canyon, however, parking is limited. Motorists should be aware of additional traffic at the parking area on the Payson side as it is adjacent to the Boy Scouts of America camp area.

All litter, personal items, and equipment should be removed from the parking areas. Rest rooms are available along the Nebo Loop trail and at the Payson and Nephi entry points.

Diamond Fork Canyon also offers good snowmobiling opportunities. The road from the turn-off in Spanish Fork Canyon through Diamond Fork is plowed for approximately 5 1/2 miles. Four-wheel drive is recommended.

All campgrounds in the Spanish Fork Ranger District are closed except Palmyra in Diamond Fork Canyon. Recreationists should plan to hike into the campground, since road access is not available. No facilities are provided at this site.

All recreationists should check with local Forest Service offices for current recreation and avalanche conditions.
