SHARE BRIAN LEADS FREMONT PAST WEBER, 71-63, IN REGION 1 CONTEST

After dropping just its second game of the season earlier this week, Weber had hoped to find the winning track against Fremont on Friday.

The Silver Wolves had other things in mind, however.Paced by Jake Brian's 20-point, 12 assist effort, Fremont (14-6, 8-4) handed the second-ranked Warriors a 71-63 Region 1 loss. The defeat didn't hurt Weber (17-3, 9-3) in the standings, however, as the Warriors clinched the region championship last week.

The Silver Wolves used a strong defensive effort in the first half to grab a 32-17 lead, and then fended off a second-half rally by Weber.

Cameron Koford added 18 points for Fremont, while Matt Sparrow had 17 for Weber.

Region 1

Northridge 70, Clearfield 66: The Knights used the 23-point effort of Paul Sackolwitz to grab a road victory over the Falcons.

Roy 73, Layton 67: Mike Puzey poured in a game-high 36 points for the Royals as they rallied in the fourth quarter to dump the Lancers. Chad King had 25 points for Layton.

Region 2

Highland 57, Cottonwood 40: The Rams outlasted the Colts in a game that produced 57 foul calls. Kyle Langston paced highland with 13 points.

Skyline 61, Bountiful 56 : Chris Handy and Matt Hansen scored 17 points apiece to help the Eagles soar past the Braves for their first region win. Danny Wilbur netted 19 points for Bountiful, including all 10 of the Braves' overtime points.

Region 3

Granger 66, Copper Hills 54: The Lancers finished region play with a 10-2 record after defeating the Grizzlies. Tim Erickson paced Granger with 19 points.

Hunter 74, Kearns 53: The Wolverines put together a 43-24 second half to grab a win over the Cougars. Harvey Moss had 15 points to lead Hunter.

Taylorsville 69, West Jordan 64: Ben Curtis netted a game-high 35 points for the Jaguars but it wasn't enough as they fell to the Warriors. Michael Vranes topped Taylorsville with 26 points.

Region 4

American Fork 58, Hillcrest 56: James Bromley tallied 24 points and 17 rebounds to help the Cavemen post a close home win over the Huskies.

Brighton 86, Alta 49: The Bengals secured a first-round bye in next week's state tournament by pouncing on the Hawks. Josh Griffeth and Dave Nielson combined for 33 points to lead Brighton.

Orem 65, Jordan 47: The Tigers used the 16-point effort of Tyler Webb to help them bury the Beetdiggers. Austin Berge added 12 points for Orem.

Region 5

Box Elder 74, Logan 68 : The Bees used a second-half comeback and strong overtime play to defeat the Grizzlies and claim the region championship. Mark Larsen paced the Bees with 21 points.

Mountain Crest 82, Sky View 66: T.J Hart tallied 22 points and Vance Roberts added 21 more for the Mustangs as they ran past the Bobcats. Mountain Crest claimed second place in the region with the win.

Ben Lomond 38, Ogden 35: Steve Burgess' 14-point effort was just enough for the Scots to get past the Tigers.

Region 6/7

Cyprus 68, Murray 67 (2OT): Trevor Wilson's driving bucket with two seconds left in the second overtime gave the Pirates a thrilling upset of the top-ranked Spartans. Wilson scored 31 points to lead Cyprus and made up for missing a free throw that could have won the game in regulation. Murray missed two free throws with two seconds left in the first overtime and the score tied.

East 75, West 59: Dan Stewart, Matt Lowe and Craig Sorensen combined for 43 points for the Leopards as they ran past the Panthers. Dave Bennett netted 22 points for West.

Judge 78, Granite 62: Tony Giovicchini scored 29 of his game-high 35 points in the second half in leading the Bulldogs past the Farmers. Jason Soto added 21 points for Judge.

Tooele 42, Olympus 41: Richard Tanner's 3-pointer with 10 seconds left in the game gave the Buffaloes a home victory over the Titans.

Region 8

Pleasant Grove 66, Payson 63: Zack Starr's 20 points for the Vikings helped them get past the Lions. Brad Bailey netted 20 points in a losing effort for Payson.

Provo 50, Timpview 42: Eric Jackson tossed in a team-high 16 points for the Bulldogs as they posted a home victory over the Thunderbirds.

Spanish Fork 75, Springville 62: Josh Davis netted 21 points and Brady Banks added 17 more to lead the Dons past the Red Devils. Dustin Tanner topped Springville with 19 points.

Region 9

Dixie 55, Cedar City 51: A second-half rally by the Flyers gave them a home victory over the Redmen. Robbie Rignell's 20 points for Dixie led all scorers.

Pine View 65, Snow Canyon 58: The Panthers rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat the Warriors. Ben Lindquist topped all scorers with 24 points for Pine View.

Region 10

Lehi 91, Park City 54: The Pioneers improved to 6-1 in region play by burying the Miners. Braden Cooper topped Lehi with 19 points.

Wasatch 87, Union 71: A pair of Marks (Pitts and Davis) scored 22 points apiece for the Wasps in a victory over the Cougars. Jeff Davenport paced Union with 26 points.

Region 11

Richfield 73, Carbon 32: The Wildcats allowed just two points in the first quarter en route to a road win over the Dinos. Wes Costa netted 22 points to lead Richfield.

North Sanpete 46, Delta 45: Alan Jacobsen's free throw with three seconds left in regulation gave the Hawks a tough win over the Rabbits. Nick Christensen paced North Sanpete with 12 points.

Region 12

Gunnison 64, Rowland Hall 46: T.J. Caldwell's 16 points helped the Bulldogs get out to an early lead and finish with a comfortable victory over the Winged Lions.

Juab 69, Grantsville 57: A strong first quarter set the pace for the Wasps as they stung the Cowboys. Preston Jones netted 25 points to lead Juab.

Morgan 60, Millard 59: Roger Davis' 3-pointer with three-seconds left to play gave the Trojans a thrilling triumph. Davis finished with team-high 16 points for Morgan.

Manti 66, North Summit 62: The Templars used a strong third quarter to rally past the Braves. Cory Jones and Jeremy Shuman each had 16 points in the loss for North Summit.

Region 13

Beaver 99, Kanab 60: The top-ranked Beavers improved to 16-1 on the season with a big road victory over the Cowboys.

North Sevier 59, South Sevier 23: The Wolves used a scoring advantage in every quarter to post a home win over the Wolves. Kurt Bosshardt, Jeremy Peterson and Tyler Taylor each scored 10 points for North Sevier.

Parowan 59, Grand 56: The Rams took a big lead and then hung on in the second half to defeat the Red Devils. Travis Packard banged home 20 points for Parowan.

Monticello 54, San Juan 48 : The Buckaroos drained six free throws in the extra session to seal a victory over the Broncos. Brad Young's 17 points led the way for Monticello.

Region 14 Crossover Games

Manila 82, West Desert 69: Doug Jarvie's quadruple-double helped the Mustangs to a victory over the Hawks. Jarvie netted 32 points, 21 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 blocks, while Jay Murphy had 30 points for West Desert.

Wendover 86, S.L. Lutheran 47: A 31-8 second quarter got the Wildcats going on their way to a big win over the Lynx. Enrique Rodrigues hit eight-3-pointers en route to a 27-point night for Wendover.

Waterford 94, Shiloah Valley 53: Matt Wade and Ryan Brooks combined for 44 points for the Wolves as they cruised to a victory over the Soldiers. Adam Casper had 25 points for Shiloah Valley.

St. Joseph 84, Tintic 48: Scott Platz netted 17 points for the Jayhawks as they dumped the Miners for their 11th win in the last 13 games.

Mt. Vernon 57, Wasatch Academy 42: The Patriots blanked the Tigers in the first quarter on their way to a road victory. Dajun Heaps scored 17 points and Mike Johnson scored 11 of his 12 points in the third quarter for Mt. Vernon.

Region 16 tiebreaker

Green River 52, Monument Valley 46: Ryan Parsons followed up his triple-double Wednesday with a 20-point outing that helped the Pirates dump the Cougars.
