SHARE WASATCH FRONT CHURCHES SET SERVICES TO CELEBRATE LENT

Churches will begin celebrating the Lenten season, the 40-day period leading up to Easter suggested by Christ's 40 days in the desert, with services and classes including:

- Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 E. 3300 South, will hold Ash Wednesday services on Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. United Methodists from Utah and southwestern Wyoming will hear Bishop Mary Ann Swenson.A Lenten class, "Coping as Christians," will be offered Thursday evenings from Feb. 22 through April 4. Topics that will be covered include worry, guilt, stress, loneliness, depression and everyday demands.

- Westvale Presbyterian Church, 3610 S. 4400 West, West Valley City, will hold an Ash Wednesday service Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.

Beginning Feb. 25 there will be a 9 a.m. worship service at the church featuring contemporary worship songs. Sunday School will continue at 9:45 a.m. and regular worship at 11 a.m. Starting Feb. 25 there will be a Prayer Adventure each Sunday during Lent at 6:30 p.m. at the church.

- The Community Presbyterian Church, 75 N. 100 East, American Fork, will hold a "service of ashes" on Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. The church will also sponsor a series of 4 Lenten dinners each Wednesday beginning Feb. 28.

- Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1441 W. Tamarack Road, Murray, will devote six Wednesday evenings, beginning Feb. 21 to feeding both "body and soul" during Lent. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a simple soup supper and worship following at 7 p.m.
