An 18-year-old man was shot once in the head with a 9mm handgun early Saturday in the second drug-related shooting in as many days along the Wasatch Front.

The man, whose identity was not released pending notification of family, was in serious but stable condition at McKay-Dee Hospital Saturday night recovering from daylong surgery, officials said.On Friday, a man in Salt Lake City died from a gunshot wound to the chest outside a west-side bar after what investigators called an altercation over drugs. Police were still searching Saturday night for a male Hispanic suspect and female Eskimo witness to the shooting.

Ogden Police Lt. Scott Sangberg said Saturday's shooting victim was injured with his own handgun about 5:30 a.m. at a home in the 700 block of Washington Blvd. after he drew the weapon and two other men wrestled him to the ground.

"It appears the individuals were arguing over drugs, then the victim pulled the gun," Sangberg said.

Sangberg said when the gun fell to the floor, one of the men grabbed it and fired at the victim. The bullet exited the top of the victim's head.

A neighbor called police, and officers apprehended the suspected triggerman and another man as they were pulling out of the driveway.

An investigation is continuing.
