Some of the notable performances in Utah high school basketball last week:

TuesdayJEFF JOHNSEN, Murray: Finished with 31 points as the Spartans won at Woods Cross. J.D. Moss hit five 3-pointers and had 27 points for the Wildcats.

DANNY THOMAS, Roy: Scored 31 points as the Royals crowned Weber in Pleasant View. Roy shot 65 percent from the field in pulling off the upset.

BEN CAPELL, Mountain View: Led the Bruins past Brighton with a game-high 27 points - 16 of which came in second half of 62-56 victory.

BEN CURTIS, West Jordan: Hit four 3-pointers en route to 26 points as the Jaguars stopped Copper Hills.

BRYAN RANSOM, Clearfield: Had 26 points in a loss at Layton.

JASON SOTO, Judge: Scored a game-high 26 as the Bulldogs toppled Tooele.

SARA PENHORWOOD, Bonneville: Led the Lakers past Northridge with 26 points.

TIRZAH CHURCH, Pleasant Grove: Complemented a defensive effort that produced 27 turnovers by scoring 24 points in an overtime win over Provo.

ADRIANNE BRADLEY, Emery: Sparked the Spartans past Delta with 24 points.

MARY JO COLF, Snow Canyon: Tallied 23 points in a loss to Cedar City.

CURTIS ELIFRITZ, Bonneville: Led all scorers with 23, but the Lakers fell at Northridge.

NATE KNIGHT, Alta: Helped the Hawks defeat American Fork by finishing with 18 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocked shots.

ALI GRESSMAN, Carbon: Dino quarterback led winning effort against North Sanpete with 15 points and 12 assists. Teammate Denise Jewkes led all scorers with 18 as the top-ranked Dinosaurs clinched the Region 11 crown.


RYAN PARSONS, Green River: Finished with 33 points as the Pirates whipped Whitehorse.

FAMILY FEUD?: Wendover defeated West Desert as the Sweats (Lawson and Thayne) outscored the Murphys (Mike and Jay) 48-43.

MARK PITTS, Wasatch: Racked up 26 points as the Wasps nipped Park City.

JEFF DAVENPORT, Union: His game-high 24 points wasn't enough to lift the Cougars past Morgan.

JEREMY SHUMAN, North Summit: Topped the stat sheet with 24 points, but the Braves still fell to Grantsville.

MOUNTAIN CREST TRIO: High-scoring threesome of T.J. Hart, Vance Roberts and Tony Brown teamed for 69 points in a win at Bear River.

WILLIE AVERETT, Springville: Three-point shooting specialist hit three and finished with 24 points in a loss at Payson.


ALYSON AAGARD, North Sanpete: Tallied 32 points in the Hawks' win over visiting Delta.

BRAD LAING, Wayne: Powered the Badgers past the Buffaloes with 28 points and five treys.

MANTI DUO: Templar twosome Amber Lyons and Shauna Rasmussen each scored 26 points in an overtime win over South Summit.

HEIDI SORENSON, Timpview: Recorded a double-double - 21 points and 18 rebounds - in the Thunderbirds' blowout win over Springville.

RUSSELL BARNES, Milford: Hit five 3-pointers en route to 23 points as the Tigers eclipsed Escalante.

EMILY ASTIN, Spanish Fork: Scored a game-high 23 in a setback at Pleasant Grove.

MELISSA BRAEGGER, Box Elder: Put a 23-point sting in Bear River as the Bees prevailed.

SHAY PRICE, Tabiona: Led all scorers with 23, but the Tigers were unable to keep pace with Duchesne.

SHARI KELSCH, American Fork: Overpowered Hillcrest for 20 points and 12 rebounds.

SHELLY KOYLE, Millard: Her 15 points and 11 rebounds helped the Eagles fly past Grantsville.


DOUG JARVIE, Manila: Quadruple-double in win over West Desert - 32 points, 21 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 blocked shots. Jay Murphy finished with 30 for the Hawks.

JUSTIN BRADSHAW, Beaver: Racked up 36 points and nine assists in three quarters of play as top-ranked Beavers blasted Kanab.

MIKE PUZEY, Roy: Future Runnin' Ute exploded for 36 points - 26 in the second half - as the Royals edged Layton. Chad King led the Lancers with 25.

TONY GIOVACCHINI, Judge: Sophomore led winning effort at Granite with 35 points.

TREVOR WILSON, Cyprus: Paced the Pirates past No. 1-ranked Murray with 31 points. Hit the game-winning shot with just two seconds remaining in the second overtime. Jeff Johnsen led the Spartans with 24.

ENRIQUE RODRIGUEZ, Wendover: Connected on eight 3-pointers en route to 27 points in a win over Salt Lake Lutheran. Darren Morrison had 30 for the Lynx.

MICHAEL VRANES, Taylorsville: Followed a game-winning shot Tuesday at Hunter by guiding the Warriors past West Jordan with 26 points.

PRESTON JONES, Juab: Tallied 25 points as the Wasps upset Grantsville.

MATT WADE, Waterford: Led the fourth-ranked Wolves past Shiloah Valley with 25 points - a total matched by Adam Casper of the Soldiers.

JAMES BROMLEY, American Fork: Registered a double-double - 24 points and 17 rebounds - as the Cavemen clipped Hillcrest.

BEN LINDQUIST, Pine View: Helped the top-ranked Panthers reign over Snow Canyon with 24 points.

RICHARD ANDERSON, Manti: Led the Templars to victory at North Summit with 23 points.

PAUL SACKOLWITZ, Northridge: Paced the Knights past Clearfield with 23 points.

MOUNTAIN CREST TRIO II: Sequel to Wednesday's performance. T.J. Hart, Vance Roberts and Tony Brown combined for 62 points as the Mustangs ran past Sky View. Brett Tarbet had 23 for the Bobcats.

BEAVER DUO: The Beavers bounced San Juan as Makenzie Gillins and Kristin Marchant each finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

HEATHER JOHNSON, Clearfield: Double-double against Northridge - 16 points and 14 rebounds.

DAVID NIELSEN, Brighton: Sidelined most of the season with a double stress fracture in his back, senior scored 16 points in his first start as the Bengals blasted rival Alta.


MONTY JONES, San Juan: Scored 37 points and hit six 3-pointers in a narrow loss at 3A Emery. Brandon Burke led the Spartans with 23.

BILLY HOOPES, Duchesne: Led all scorers with 23 as the outlasted rival Altamont in overtime.
