Murray School District's alternative high school has been named Creekside High School.

The name change, from Bonnyview High School, becomes effective in the fall when students and staff move into a new school building at 165 E. 5065 South. The new school will replace the 90-year-old structure, formerly Bonnyview Elementary School, at 4984 S. 300 West."In our new building, we'll be a long way from Bonnyview Street so we wanted to drop the Bonnyview name. The change also eliminates confusion with Bonneville High in Weber School District and Bonneville Junior High in Granite District," said principal Shauna Ballou.

The name was selected by a vote of teachers and students and approved by the Murray City Board of Education.

Bonneyview High serves about 150 students in grades 9-12. The school also houses about 50 English as a Second Language and Adult High School students in evening and day programs.

Creekside High will house about 175 students. The school will include a small library and snack bar, in addition to classrooms and office space.
