A family of four escaped injury early Sunday after someone threw four quart-sized Molotov cocktails inside their home.

The burning bottles of gasoline set off a smoke detector in the home, 1259 W. 500 South, which alerted the family. The family left the house as firefighters arrived about 3:30 a.m. Damage was estimated at $3,000.Fire investigators are considering charges of aggravated arson and attempted murder, said Salt Lake Fire Capt. Jeff Stansfield. The investigators and police detectives have several leads but no arrests have been made, he said.
