Police seized 10 pounds of marijuana after a tow-truck driver alerted them to a man's unwillingness to part with his spare tire.

Germain Berrelleza, 18, Mesa, Ariz., was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute after police discovered 11 plastic containers of marijuana inside the tire.He is being held at the Kane County Jail on $15,000 bail.

An Arrow Towing driver had picked up Berrelleza around 2 a.m. Saturday at Jacob Lake in northern Arizona, where his truck had broken down, said Kanab Police Chief Douglas Crosby.

Berrelleza insisted on taking clothing, personal items and his spare tire with him in the tow truck, Crosby said.

When Berrelleza carried the tire into his room at the Shilo Inn in Kanab, the tow truck driver called police.

Authorities dismantled the tire, where they found the drugs.
