SHARE SUSPECT PLEADS NOT GUILTY IN ROBBERIES

A Kaysville man arrested in a bar an hour after a bank was robbed pleaded not guilty Tuesday in 2nd District Court to three first-degree felony charges of aggravated robbery.

Ramon R. Barraza, 23, is charged with robbing the Kaysville branch of First Security Bank on Feb. 5 and with two earlier armed robberies of a Layton convenience store and a Fruit Heights gas station.Each of the charges carries prison terms of five years to life.

Barraza was arrested by a Davis County sheriff's deputy who spotted his truck in the parking lot of a Layton bar after the robbery.

No trial date was set but Judge Jon Memmott set a March 12 hearing to review a possible plea negotiation.
