Lee Deffebach will be the guest speaker for the Utah Watercolor Society's monthly meeting on Feb. 6. Deffebach has explored the various styles and content of modernism through her painting on paper, canvas, wood, metals and found objects. "Music, poems, landscape and dogs make me want to paint," Deffebach says. "Painting is what I live for." The meeting will be held at the Salt Lake County Complex, 2100 S. State, Commission Chamber Room, 7:30 p.m.
- Salt Lake Community College will present "Willow Stories: Contemporary Navajo Baskets," featuring the 10 of Utah's contemporary Navajo basket weavers. Mary Holiday Black, recipient of the 1995 National Heritage Fellowship Award, is one of the weaver's who will exhibit. The display is on exhibt through Feb. 26 in the Student Services Lounge at the South City Campus of Salt Lake Community College, 1575 S. State, Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.- The Utah Watercolor Society will hold a "Paint Out" on Saturday, Feb. 10, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the north entrance of Trolley Square. - Utah artist Mary Ann Webster received the first place award in ceramics for her piece,"Angel Icon," in the 33rd Art Zone exhibition at the Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center, 350 S. Dahlia Street, Denver. The show runs through Feb. 23.
