Lona Lindsay Heiner, loving mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away February 6, 1996 in Salt Lake City.

Lona was born April 30, 1901 in Taylorsville, Utah to Joseph J. and Ethlyn Towler Lindsay. Lona married Claude Purnell Heiner on September 2, 1924 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Heiner passed away on November 6, 1984.Lona was a graduate of the University of Utah and also studied piano for three years at Columbia University in New York City. She was a school teacher in the Granite School District. Lona was a devoted wife and mother. She took great pride in her husband, children and grandchildren. Lona was an active member of the community and a tireless volunteer worker. She was a member of the Junior League of Salt Lake, a Red Cross volunteer for over 35 years, a member of the Ladies Literary Club, The Salt Lake Country Club, the Alta Club, and the Garden Club. Lona will be missed by her family, friends, and the Salt Lake community as a whole.

Lona is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Claude L. and Julia Y. Heiner, daughter-in-law, Mrs. Stanley L. Heiner (Jerrie M.), eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three children, Stanley L. Heiner, Dale Heiner, and Betty Jean Heiner.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 9, 1996 at 12 noon, Larkin Mortuary Chapel, 260 East So. Temple, where friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday, one hour prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations be made to Lona's neighbor, the Ronald McDonald House, 935 East So. Temple, SLC, 84102, because Lona knew that "charity never faileth."
