"America Sings," a new musical variety revue, will be presented this year by Utah State University's Sunburst Singers and Dancers at the Ellen Eccles Theatre in downtown Logan.

"These talented students usually perform in the Glenn Miller show at USU," said publicity coordinator Patrice Clark. "With the construction at the student center, we couldn't do our show there, and we had to find a temporary home."The annual Glenn Miller shows at USU are extremely popular with audiences, and it was decided to mount a stage production to replace the traditional dinner/dance entertainment for this year. As a result, "America Sings" was created.

The show will play Feb. 9-10 and 16-17 at 8 p.m. in the Eccles Theatre. Admission ranges from $10 to $15, with a $2 discount for USU students, senior citizens and children from 5-12. (Children under the age of 5 are not admitted.)

Tickets are available at the Eccles Theatre box office. Call 752-0026 for ticket information.

The Sunburst Singers, directed by Derek Furch, and the Sunburst Dancers, choreographed by Irene Bates, will be in the spotlight for the entire 90-minute production. The show, which has no intermission, will range from big production numbers to solos and duets.

Songs from the Roaring '20s, hit parade tunes from the '40s and music from the '50s will be included on the program.

If construction continues on schedule on the USU campus, the Glenn Miller production will return to the newly expanded and technically enhanced Stevenson Ballroom in 1997.
