Mario Davidovsky will be on the University of Utah campus this week in anticipation of his Maurice Abravanel Distinguished Visiting Composer residency later this spring.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, whose "Shalumit's Dream" is being performed by the Utah Symphony next weekend (see adjoining story), will make two presentations to which the public is invited:- "A Compositional Survey," at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, in Room 414 of Gardner Hall.

- "Aesthetics and Techniques of the Medium," at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, in the West Institute's Electronic Studio.

Admission to each is free.

Davidovsky will return to campus April 12, when, in addition to lectures and classes, he will be on hand for a concert of his music by the new-music ensemble Canyonlands.
