Bert Douglas Chambers, age 40, born July 30, 1955 in Spanish Fork, Utah, died March 5, 1996 in Death Valley, Calif., due to an automobile accident.

He was educated in Utah, and Carbon County Schools, and joined the US Navy at age 16. He made the service his career, retiring after 23 years. He last worked for Management Tec Services as a warehouse foreman for three years, and was living in Lemoore, Calif., at the time of his death. He referred to Soldier Summit as home, and loved to spend time in the mountains. He was visiting his parents, (who are campground hosts at Stove Pipe Wells in Death Valley National Monument) at the time of his death. He left this world in perfect peace with his Maker and into the waiting arms of Jesus.Survivors are his wife, Melany Dawn Chambers, Lemoore, Calif.; daughter, Amanda Dawn, who was the apple of his eye, of Lemoore, Calif.; parents, Don and Betty Chambers, St. George and Soldier Summit, Utah; brothers, Jason Chambers, St. George; Don Jr. (Cassy) Chambers, Spring City; sisters, Denna Lambson, Price, Utah; and Judy Bogden (Butch), Craig, Colorado; Laura Kelso, Boise, Idaho; Janna Middleton, Warren, Michigan.

There will be a visitation on Monday, March 11, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary in Spanish Fork, with graveside funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, full military honors by American Legion of Spanish Fork Post and Trinity Christian Center.
