Ellen Eugene Anderson Hyde passed away peacefully at her home in Salt Lake City on March 8, 1996.
Born in Ephraim, Utah on September 5, 1921, she was the youngest of nine children of Joseph Franklin Anderson and Annie Paulene Dorius Anderson.She attended school in Ephraim and in Salt Lake City, where she graduated from West High School in 1939. She married Jack Hyde on August 31, 1943 in Salt Lake City; they divorced in 1965.
Ellen spent many years in Malibu, California raising her family and, among other things, raising show ponies that raced as matched sets in the "Ben Hur" style. She returned to Salt Lake City in 1965. Ellen was an artist, landlady, and a friend. Member of the LDS Church; she lived her religion with love and compassion for all who were drawn to her. Mostly she was a devoted mother as well as grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt to her extended family. She always had a helping hand and open heart to those in need and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Ellen is survived by two brothers: Lawrence of Gunnison, Utah; and Roger of Ontario, Oregon; three sisters: Paulene Winder of Boise, Idaho;, Edith Spidel of Salt Lake City; and Eva Jefferies Anderson of Yuba City, California. Also survived by four children: Jacklyn Hyde Guthrie (Arlo), of Washington Massachusetts; Robert Alan Hyde (Trevor Burborough) of Salt Lake City; Juanita Zaderecki (Glen), of Washington, Massachusetts; and Shirley Spurlin (Allan) of Ogden, Utah; seven grandchildren: Abraham, Cathyaliza, Annie and Sarah Lee Guthrie, Reuben James Taylor, Little Ellen and Taylor Spurlin; two great-grandchildren, Krishna and ShivaDas Marquis Guthrie; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Euray and Ford Anderson; and one sister, Josephine Sigmund Christensen.
Funeral services Tuesday, March 12, at 12 Noon, Waterloo Ward Chapel, 1623 South 500 East. Viewing will be at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Monday evening 6 - 8 p.m., and at the ward on Tuesday, 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
