Our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, and friend, Dixie Carol Marchant Steffensen, age 55, returned home to her Father in Heaven on March 8, 1996 of congestive heart failure.

Born in Burley, Idaho on March 28, 1940 to Jay W. and Elizabeth (Beth) Bennett Marchant. Graduated valedictorian from Granite High School, Class of 1958. Married Eugene E. Steffensen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1959; later divorced.Faithful member of the LDS Church, where she served in numerous church and civic callings. She enjoyed her family, her friends at Tops, traveling through Europe with her mother, her best friend, Patches, her cat, and especially family outings in Vernon. She was a brave example of enduring to the end in patience and in suffering. Her determination and unselfishness will always be remembered.

Survived by her children, daughter, Carol (Jim) Martin, West Valley City; sons, Jay E. Steffensen, West Valley City; and Paul W. (Stacy) Steffensen, Provo; brother, Brent (Judi) Marchant, Bountiful; sisters, Marian (Bill) King, West Valley City; Kathie (Richard) Franklin, Las Vegas, Nevada; Lynette B. Marchant, Vernon, Utah; five grandchildren, Jeff, Carrie, Jessica, Emilee, Chelsea; special friend, Barbara Squires; and many friends. Preceded in death by her father, 1973, and mother, 1991.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 11, 12 noon, at Jordan North 5th Ward, 3836 West 4100 South, where friends may call Monday, 9 a.m.-noon. Interment, Vernon Cemetery on Tuesday, March 12, 12 noon.

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to Dr. Greg Price and the nursing staff at St. Mark's Hospital and especially Kirk McDougal, D.R. Paul, and McDougal Funeral Home for the care of our mother.
