Stephen Weston Bates, 81, passed away March 8, 1996 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born March 1, 1915, Tooele, Utah, to Elmer and Florence Gee Bates. He received his education in Duchesne and Tooele. He married Rachel Droubay and they had three daughters and one son, they were later divorced. Married Marianne Nykel Weston.Weston worked for Gallager Construction as an assembly man. He enjoyed working with his hands, and building with wood. He enjoyed fishing and boating and in his retirement years he helped build a cabin in the mountains with his step-son, Peter Meslik, which he enjoyed very much. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.

Survived by his wife, Marianne; step-son, Peter (Vicki) Meslik; daughters, Beryl Pinney, Meryle (Tex) Casto; Janet (Bill) Moore; 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Selma, Ina. Preceded in death by sister, Rita (Vaughn) Lott, son, David W. Bates, brothers, Glenn Bates, Wilbur Bates.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 11, 1996, 11 a.m. at Memorial Estates Mortuary, 900 East 5850 South, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment, Tooele City Cemetery.
