Our loving wife and mother, Marlene E. Petersen, 63, of Highland, passed away March 9, 1996 at her home after an illness due to cancer.

She was born September 10, 1932 in San Francisco, California to Richard E. and Marie Kreissig Remmele. She married Klyde L. Petersen in Santa Rosa, Calif. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Oakland LDS Temple. She was raised and attended school in Sonoma County, Northern California. After graduation she attended Brigham Young University. She was a noted author concerning food preparation and storage and lectured across the western states and Canada. Her talents also included owning and operating a family catering service for 30 years. She devoted her life raising her 12 children and serving in various teaching and leadership positions in the LDS Church which included Primary president, Relief Society counselor, teacher, missionary.She is survived by her husband, Klyde L. Petersen; four sons and eight daughters, Donna Olpin, Delayne Jones, Dennette Welling, Dalynda Larsen, David Petersen, Dane Petersen, Deone Thornton, DeAnn Russon, Denell Petersen, Daneen Petersen, Daniel Petersen, Dehn Petersen; two stepchildren, Martin Petersen and Janis Whitaker; 33 grandchildren. Additional survivors include her father, two brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Highland Seventh Ward Chapel, 5212 West Country Club Drive, Highland. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Thursday from 11:30 to 12:30. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
