Funeral services will be Tuesday for Ellen Eugene Anderson Hyde, mother-in-law of folk singer Arlo Guthrie.

Hyde, also remembered as a one-time trainer of show ponies, died Friday at her Salt Lake home. She was 75.She and Guthrie often took humorous pokes at each other. Before a 1992 Guthrie concert in Salt Lake City, for example, the singer said he liked performing here because he could see Hyde and do his laundry.

"I don't really do my laundry, but put that in the article. She'll love it," Guthrie said.

Hyde told people she used to sing Woody Guthrie songs to her children, but she never imagined daughter Jackie would marry the music legend's son.

Born in Ephraim in 1921, Hyde went to California at 19 to be an actress. That career eluded her, but she did marry and stayed long enough for her daughter to meet Guthrie.
