Alan Ashton, co-founder of the WordPerfect Corp., will be honored as Ricks College Business Leader of the Year during the school's annual business day in Rexburg, Idaho. Kevin Shiley, co-chairman of the event, said Ashton was chosen because "he helped pioneer a whole industry - that of word processing software" and because Ashton is a role model for business students.

Ashton taught at Brigham Young
University for 14 years and was selected as "Outstanding Professor of the Year" by the graduating computer science class in 1986.
