As a recent transferee from Chicago to Springville, I am thrilled with the change and the beauty. I love the area, my neighbors and the skiing. I still miss the lake (Michigan) and the pizza, but I feel right at home with the local politics of zoning boards.

The influence of a local developer seems to make rules and policy for responsible development unnecessary. Despite the objections of an entire neighborhood, a seriously flawed development is being planned and, likely, approved. Logical and concerned questions have been posed about access, congestion, services (mail, school and garbage collection), soil erosion, fire hazards and environmental impact. With all of these serious reservations, the plan still sailed through planning and zoning. I guess 1,500 miles from Chicago just wasn't far enough.Keith Haeffele
