Local musicians and aspiring stars can demonstrate their talents in a traffic safety song contest sponsored by Provo Police Department and Utah County Health Department.

The song contest is part of "Get it Together Provo," a citywide safety belt campaign. Sponsors say the song contest will increase traffic safety awareness and encourage safe traffic habits among Provo residents, especially youths.Songs must have a traffic safety theme, such as seat belts, speeding or drunken driving.

Winners will receive recording time at Rosewood Recording Co., air time on KZHT Hot 94.9 and performances at Mama's Cafe and local schools.

Contestants must submit a cassette tape of their performance, as well as written lyrics, to the Provo Police Department by Monday, April 1.
