A Salt Lake man infected with hepatitis during a local outbreak of the disease in December 1994 is suing the Taco Bell Restaurant at 1758 N. Temple.
Andrew Lloyd filed a complaint in 3rd District Court March 8 seeking "special damages," including but not limited to medical costs and lost wages, after eating hepatitis-tainted food from the restaurant. The Taco Bell was one of several eateries contaminated by the virus during an epidemic that struck the Salt Lake area in late 1994.The suit alleges the restaurant was negligent for employing a worker who carried the virus and apparently passed it on to customers who ate food from the establishment.
It asks that a jury be allowed to determine damages.
