Eugene William Dalby, 72, passed away peacefully March 11, 1996 at his son's home in South Jordan after a valiant battle with cancer. He joined his sweetheart, Blanch Hanson Dalby, who passed away October 4, 1995.
He was born August 13, 1923, in Leadore, Idaho, the son of William Edgar and Leda Peterson Dalby. He served in the Navy and was a veteran of World War II. During his service, he met his wife, Blanch, whom he married in the Hawaii Temple November 26, 1947. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served three missions with his wife: to Singapore, Australia Sidney and Australia Adelaide, and was a worker in the St. George Temple. He is the father of five children: Ronald (Helen) Dalby, Kathryn (Louis) Eliet, Ellen (Joe) Harnden, Louise (Steve) Lawrence, Diane (Brent) Averett.
Many church callings were served, including the family history center, 70's quorum, High Priests, and the Young Men, a job he truly loved because of his association with the young men whom he viewed as prospective missionaries. He enjoyed family, friends, leatherwork, lapidary, temple and genealogy.
He is survived by all his children and their spouses, 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Robert and Marv, and three sisters, Elaine (Barraclough), Karen (Hansen) and Dixie (Denney).
