Jurors sentenced a man to life in prison instead of death for killing Michael Jordan's father because they weren't sure he pulled the trigger, the jury forewoman said.

The jury deliberated nearly 3 1/2 hours before reaching the verdict Tuesday for Daniel Andre Green, who was convicted Feb. 29 in the murder of James Jordan.Co-defendant Larry Martin Demery, 20, pleaded guilty to murder, armed robbery and conspiracy last year and agreed to help prosecutors.

Following the jury's recommendation, Superior Court Judge Gregory Weeks sentenced Green to life in prison for killing and robbing Jordan in July 1993, and to 10 years for conspiracy to commit robbery. Green could be eligible for parole in about 20 years.
