A psychologist instrumental in finding John C. Salvi III competent to stand trial for killing two abortion clinic receptionists conceded that Salvi could be delusional and schizophrenic.

On cross-examination by the defense, Dr. Joel Haycock said he never asked Salvi directly about some of Salvi's delusions, including his belief that Roman Catholics were being persecuted.Haycock, chief of forensic services at Bridgewater State Hospital, said he had read statements written by Salvi that talked of a need for a Catholic currency and Catholic police and welfare systems.
