Golfers at a public course in Murray have set up a trust fund for the daughters of a woman who recently died in a Taylorsville-Bennion house fire.
An account with First Interstate Bank has been established by the Fore Lakes Golf Course for Tiffany and Tawnya Mackay, whose mother, Cheryl, died March 1 in a midmorning blaze.Mackay, 35, was found dead in a bedroom in the front of the home near 700 West and 4800 South.
Brad Asplund, course professional at Fore Lakes, said the fund was set up "because one of the little girls goes to the same school as my daughter."
"And when my girl came home bawling, well I just had to do something," Asplund said. "I hope to get a hold of my PGA and Utah PGA contacts and make this a big thing."
Those wishing to contribute may donate to any First Interstate Bank, asking for the Tiffany and Tawnya Mackay Fund, account No. 10080235, or visit the Murray branch at 4920 S. State.
