Grizz top Admirals

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Rookie Brett Lievers broke a tie in the third period in helping Utah to a 5-3 victory Wednesday over the Milwaukee Admirals.

Utah (43-21-3) led 3-1 after two periods but Milwaukee (34-24-8) tied it 3-3 on a goal by Robert Guillet at 6:38 of the third.

After Lievers restored the lead with his team-high 29th goal, forward Chris Taylor added an empty-net goal at 19:13.

Goaltender Tommy Salo made 20 saves for Utah, which has won three straight.

Disney abandons deal

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - The Walt Disney Co. abandoned plans to buy the California Angels after the company couldn't reach an agreement with Anaheim to renovate Anaheim Stadium.

On Jan. 18, baseball owners approved Disney's deal to buy 25 percent of the Angels from Gene Autry. Disney would have operated the team and had the right to buy the remainder of the Angels after Autry's death.

WSU coach honored

OGDEN (AP) - Montana coach Robin Selvig and Weber State coach Carla Taylor were named the Big Sky Conference women's basketball co-coaches of the year on Wednesday.

The two were selected by the league's eight head coaches. It was Taylor's first such award and Selvig's 13th.

Taylor, in her eighth season as coach, guided Weber State to a 17-12 overall record, 9-5 in Big Sky play.
