Joni Jensen passed away Monday, March 11, 1996 at her parents' home in St. George, Utah.
The daughter of Robert Lee and Lois M. Snow Jensen, Joni was born July 28, 1954 in Price, Utah. Joni was graduated from Carbon High School in 1972 where she represented Carbon High at Girls State. She was part of the school newspaper staff and a member of A Cappella Choir and pep club. Joni attended and graduated from Utah State University, Logan, Utah with a B.S. Degree in Speech Pathology. She was the president of the Associated Women's Students and a member of the Tri-Delta Sorority. She was recently honored by the University as Honorary Student-body Officer. Joni later attended Carroll College in Helena, Montana and in 1980 received a B.A. Degree in Medical Records Administration. Joni worked at several hospitals in the state including: Castleview Hospital, Alta View Hospital, Charter Summit, and Holy Cross Hospital as the Medical Records Administrator. Joni was on the board of directors of the Consociates-an Auxiliary to the Assistance League of Salt Lake City and served as chairperson during 1991-1993. Under her leadership, she directed the "Baby Bundles" project, which provided complete layettes to the University of Utah Hospital for teenage mothers.Joni's greatest accomplishment was the adoption of her two children, Amy and Ivaylo. They filled her life with great joy and love, as she did theirs. She was a wonderful mother.
Joni loved to read, ski and travel. She loved her pet dogs Carmel and Tuffy. Joni was a kind and generous person who wanted to help everyone in need. Her capacity for love was great and was felt by all those who knew her. She will be missed.
Joni is survived by her parents, Robert Lee and Lois; her brother, Ron (Lynn); her daughter, Amy and son, Ivaylo; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and many friends whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16th at Cottonwood 3rd Ward, 6301 South 2300 East at 12 Noon, where friends and family may call from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South.
