Women's History Month continues with free lectures and discussions nearly every day.

- March 16 - Inaugural meeting of the Jane Austen Society of Utah. Patricia Truxler Coleman, professor of English at Westminster College, inaugurates this new literary organization, 1 p.m., the King's English Bookstore, 1511 So. 1500 East.- March 16 - The "Accolades to Women" Banquet sponsored by the Business and Professional Women's Utah Foundation features Peggy Stock, president of Westminster College, as keynote speaker, noon, Marriott Hotel. - March 16 - The Northern Utah Women's Conference "Woman to Woman: United Against Violence." Workshops include domestic violence awareness and the legal system. $20 admission includes continental breakfast and lunch, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Ogden Park Hotel, 247 24th St., Ogden.

- March 18-22 - Women's groups and clubs booths and music in the Step Down Lounge, BYU.

- March 20 - Lynn Callister speaks on "Mid-Life Woman: Maximizing Wellness," noon, 375 ELWC, BYU.

- March 21, 28 - "Voices of Utah Women," Jane Edwards, executive director of the YWCA, discusses women Utah history, noon at the YWCA, 322 E. 300 South, Salt Lake City.

- March 21 - Chieko Okazaki speaks on "Training Future Leaders," 11 a.m., 375 ELWC, BYU.

- March 22, 29 - Films by Women, sponsored by KRCL's Women's Radio Collective and the Utah Film and Video Center, 8 p.m., 20 S. West Temple. $5 admission.

- March 24 - "Give Them Not Hell But Hope" is a service about a Universalist woman whose words and actions changed a community, 4 p.m., South Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, 6876 So. Highland Drive.

- March 25 - Precinct caucuses convene to pick chairmen, vice chairmen and delegates for local political party conventions. Call 468-3427 to find the time and location of the caucus meeting in your area.

- March 26 - Executive Women International ASIST Program dinner features Bernadette Astorza from the Turning Point Program, which aids single mothers and displaced homemakers, 5:30 p.m., University of Utah Alumni House. $24 admission includes dinner.

- March 27 - Playwright Aden Ross, the commissioned writer of Utah's centennial opera, will speak on "Play Making, Change Making," 7:30 p.m., 105 Engineering and Mines Classroom Building, University of Utah.

- March 28 - Panel discussion "Making Meaning Out of an Education," 11 a.m., 321 MSRB, BYU.

- March 28 - Panel discussion on "Living the Political Life: Women's Participation in Electoral and Community Activism," features legislators, city councilwomen and former Congresswoman Karen Shepherd, noon, Salt-air Room, Olpin Union, University of Utah. Panel discussion on "Challenge, Change and Commitment: Experiences of Women Student Leaders," follows the other panel at 2 p.m., in the Saltair Room.

- March 29 - The "Composing a Life's Work" discussion offers narratives about the obstacles and opportunities experienced by women as part of their career choices, noon, Saltair Room, Olpin Union, University of Utah.

- March 30 - "Rites of Spring: Demeter, Persephone and Hecate," is a service at the South Valley Unitarian Universalist Church reenacting the myth of these three generations of women in dance and song, 5 p.m., 6876 S. Highland Drive.

- March 30, 31 - "In Celebration of Women, History and Song" is a benefit concert for the YWCA featuring the Salt Lake Men's Choir, contralto Mary Wescott and the music of commissioned Utah Centennial composer Audrey Terry. 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ladies Literary Club, 850 E. South Temple. Tickets are $15 and are available by calling 482-SONG.

- March 30, 31 - "Women Aloud" on KRCL 91 FM. Sponsored by the Women's Radio Collective, this will be two days of programs to promote women's views and voices. Female artists, poets and political discussions from 8 a.m. on March 30 to 7 p.m. on March 31. The public is invited to an open house at KRCL, 208 W. 800 South, Salt Lake, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Women's History Month is the creation of the National Women's History Project, an organization that began in 1980 to promote a multicultural approach to educating children. The project publishes a free catalog of books, tapes, posters, games and videos. To get a catalog call 707-838-6000.
