Samuel F. Emmons passed away March 12, 1996 in Salt Lake City from a heart attack following a stroke.

Born in Decker, Indiana on April 1, 1918 to Samuel and Ruth Crawford Emmons. Married Mary Elizabeth Hancock, April 26, 1943. He graduated from Carlisle High School and attended Vincennes University and Indiana University. He was very proud to have served in the U.S. Air Force in the 442nd Troop Carrier Command in World War II from 1941 to 1945. A number of his lifelong friends were made during that time. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.He and his family lived a number of years in California where he worked in sales for Lachman Bros. Furniture and in his own business. After he and his wife retired to Salt Lake City, he worked in the Drapery Dept. of Granite Furniture.

He enjoyed traveling and gardening. He was loving and supportive of his family and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E., daughter Carol Austin (Charles); granddaughter, Heather Leigh (Robert M.); great-grandchildren, Spencer and Ana' Leigh, all of Salt Lake City; brother James Emmons (Joan) of Sullivan, Indiana; a number of nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends who were important to him.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, 1996 at the Christ United Methodist Church, 2325 East 3300 South. Friends may call Thursday, March 14, 1996, 6-8 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, and at the church Friday one hour prior to services.

Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
