In honor of "Employ the Older Worker Week," the Uinta National Forest is honoring employees of the Senior Community Service Employment Program.

A program that began in 1976 with an agreement between the Forest Service and the Department of Labor, the goal is to employ low-income people age 55 and over, give them job training and return them to the work force. The Uinta National Forest currently employs 29 people on this program. Their duties include office work, sign making and recreation maintenance and construction. Without their help, the Forest Service could not afford many of the services. This program returns $1.53 for every dollar invested, officials say, and in times of declining budgets, these savings are extremely important.

The Forest Service is currently seeking individuals to hire in this category. Contact Jim Dunford or Loyal Clark at 377-5780.
