Music is the word in the valley next week. Here is a glimpse of what's coming.
- RUBBERNECK returns to Salt Lake City for a one-night only performance Tuesday, March 19, at the Zephyr Club, 301 S. West Temple. Doors open at 7 p.m.The band combines funk, jazz, rhythm and blues for an evening of free-spirited grooving. The Portland, Ore.-based band is taking a break from the studio to hit the road.
- COUNTRY SINGER CURTIS DAY will play at the Westerner, 3360 S. Redwood Road, Friday, March 22. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Things have been moving quickly for the 25-year-old Texan. Since his self-titled debut album hit the scene, Day took on a tour of rodeo circuits across the country. He's taking a break from the dust to visit Salt Lake City.
- LEFTOVER SALMON will take the stage at the Zephyr Club, Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23. Doors open at 7 p.m.
The band incorporates improvisational grooves throughout its self-dubbed "Cajun Slamgrass." Hailing from Boulder, Colo., the band manages to reach deep into Louisiana territory for some musical spice and moves on to San Francisco's Haight/Ashbury district for the groove. Leftover Salmon's recent album "Ask the Fish" was recorded over Halloween weekend at the Fox Theater in Boulder.
