Auditions have been scheduled for the following stage productions:
- THE SOUND OF MUSIC, being directed by Leslie Warwood of Weber State University, on Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pages Lane Theatre, 292 E. Pages Lane, Centerville.Come prepared to sing a song and read from the script. An accompanist will be provided. All roles are open. Play dates are May 31 through July 13. - "EGYPTIAN SHORTS: AN EVENING OF ONE-ACTS," on Sunday, March 24, from 3 to 5 p.m., and Monday, March 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre in Park City.
There are roles in the Park City Performances' production for men and women from 20 to 55 years of age. There will be cold readings from the script. Performances will be May 9-18. For further information call 649-9371.
- "ANNIE," on March 20 and 21 in the Springville High School Little Theatre for the Art City Community Theatre summer production.
Needed are adults, especially men of all ages and types and women 20 to 60 or older, and young girls. There are also a few parts for teenagers.
Auditions for girls, 8 to 14 years of age, will be held on Wednesday, March 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the school, with all other auditions scheduled for Thursday, March 21, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Come prepared with 16 bars of music, preferably an upbeat or comedic musical theater piece, and be prepared to dance. An accompanist will be provided.
- FOUR SCERA THEATRE outdoor productions for this summer:
- "Promised Valley," being directed by Jerry Elison. Auditions Monday and Tuesday, March 25 and 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Orem High School. The total cast of 50 to 60 performers will include all ages. One female and two male adults with strong singing ability are needed for leading roles. There are several non-singing male and female roles and many chorus parts. Strong male and female dancers are also needed.
Only children of parents who also audition may try out. Those interested in speaking parts will be asked to read a short selection.
Performances are scheduled June 3-15.
- "Robert and Elizabeth," featuring Robert Peterson and Kathryn Laycock, and "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," both being directed by Syd Riggs.
"Robert and Elizabeth," which was a smash hit in London, is a musical love story based on the lives of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. It will be performed July 8-20.
- "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," being choreographed by Jayne Luke, scheduled to be staged Aug. 5-17.
Auditions for both shows will be held Friday, April 12, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SCERA Center in Orem.
Performers ranging from high school juniors through adults are welcome to audition. Dance tryouts will be held during the callbacks.
All roles are open in "Molly Brown," which requires an ensemble of strong dancers.
- "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," being directed by Rosanne Ungerman and scheduled in the Sept. 9-14 time slot. Auditions will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. April 19 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SCERA Center. All roles are open for those ranging from 16 to mature adults. Be prepared to learn a short dance combination.
