Bay Area punk-ska band Rancid has been added to the Lollapalooza '96 lineup, which also includes Metallica, Soundgarden and the Ramones.

The quartet, whose " . . . And Out Come the Wolves" (Epitaph) disc garnered rave reviews and spent seven months on the albums chart, will appear at the Hollywood Palladium on April 17 as part of a warm-up tour before the sixth annual Lollapalooza caravan trek kicks off in late June.Ramones singer Joey Ramone said he was looking forward to sharing the stage with the high-energy Rancid.

"Good energy, good songs, good fun, good hair," he said. "Nice guys."
