Thomas George Odell died March 12, 1996.
Born March 27, 1927 in Santa Monica, California to George T. and Mary Ann Odell. Served in the U.S. Navy, 1948-1952. Married Denise Helene Clerc. Graduated University of Maryland, 1959. Graduate work at University of Arizona. Teacher of French and English in public schools from 1959 to 1967, Valley Jr. High, 1963-1964.Returned to Salt Lake in 1972 and followed his love of music where he taught trumpet at Alan Weight Music Studios until 1983, also working as a performing free-lance musician.
At age 15, he played with a major band in Washington, D.C. Studied music theory in Rome, Italy. Tom (Wizard) loved playing jazz with anyone (as long as they were in tune) and when he said no laughing-he was kidding!
Survived by wife, Denise; mother, Mary Ann; brother, John Arthur; sister, Marie Grossi; sons, George (Alicia), David (Kay), Art (Lydia); daughters, Yvette (Hugh) Gerhardt, Monique (David) Pinelli, Daniele (Marcus) Wickle, Claudine; niece, Cristina; nephews, Maurice, Van, Glenn, Brian; eight grandchildren.
