Ellen, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on March 14, 1996 after a long bout with cancer.

She was born on July 25, 1931 in Antelope, Idaho to Katherine Ellen Humphrey Ricks and William Charles Ricks. Growing up, she enjoyed life on the farm and cherished the many memories of living with her brothers and sisters in Rexburg and Rire, Idaho. She attended Utah State University where she met John Homer Johnson. They were married on September 5, 1950 in the Idaho Falls Temple. She enjoyed gardening, playing with her grandchildren, and serving her fellowmen. An active member of the LDS Church, she held positions in the Relief Society, Young Women's, Primary and Cub Scouts. She loved life but especially devoted herself to raising five children and 22 grandchildren. Teaching them by her example-what it meant to live with integrity and with compassion for those who are in need. She was a friend to all. Her infectious laugh and loving, playful nature will be missed by her friends and loved ones.

She is survived by her husband, John Homer Johnson; her children, Gale H. (Nina) Johnson, George William (Evelyn) Johnson, Barbara Ann ((Steve) Perkins, Marilyn (Steve) Slatter, and Grant Joel (Tonya) Johnson; as well as 22 devoted grandchildren and many dear cousins, brothers and sisters.
