As an alumna of BYU and the daughter of the man who was known as "the voice of BYU sports" (before Paul James, of course), I have followed BYU basketball enthusiastically for many years. Consequently, I have been dismayed to read of the disparaging remarks made about Roger Reid, BYU's head basketball coach.

Doesn't his record speak for itself? As far as his public relations persona goes, I have never felt he was anything less than professional. So what if he's not a Jay Leno or a Rick Majerus? Thank goodness, he's not. To the BYU fans who are being critical of him, get a clue; he's doing a great job. So get off his back.It might be different if he had produced consistently losing seasons, but he hasn't. And the love and support he gives his team members speaks volumes for his character. And please leave Randy and Robbie alone. If he hadn't recruited his sons, he would have been criticized for that mistake, as well. Seems he can't win either way.

Now to the BYU administrators: It is not Roger's fault if the attendance is down at the games. Have you ever considered that the price for season tickets could have something to do with the decline? I know the ever-rising cost of season tickets has priced us out of the market.

We need to remember that no one can be all things to all people, so let's let Roger do the job he's being paid for - coaching.
