The deteriorated line was leaking natural gas outside a 13-unit complex at 562 S. 600 East just before noon. The ground outside the complex was saturated with natural gas, which - if ignited - could have caused an explosion, said Salt Lake City Fire Capt. Jeff Stansfield.Crews from Mountain Fuel clamped off the leak. There were no injuries. The building's 12 occupants were allowed back in their apartments after the leak was controlled.
